Note: There are now two start times for each course date which are 4.30pm and 6.15pm and the courses run for one and a half hours.

Well it has been a while!

So let’s get to work and bring the world up to date.

Despite the recession we have been able to increase our Market Share here at SPE and things have been much busier in-store for us. That has meant the addition of some new faces to our team.

Joanne Martin has now joined us as our Photographer and in a limited management capacity. Also now working in store with us we have Samantha Skippon who has been employed in a Photographic Consultant role.

Jo brings to the store a range of valuable skills and experience in both in the studio and out on location. Her fun style of photography has proved very popular with our customers. Jo is also a highly skilled image manipulation artist, which has enabled us to offer customers a much more personal service when it comes to manipulating and restoring their images.

Sam, on the other hand, works for us while also undertaking her National Diploma in Photography at New College Stamford. She is very keen to learn (which is why she is here) and has also recently shot some great images at a Battle of the Bands competition held at Mama Lizzie’s Voodoo Lounge and Bar here in Stamford.

Both Jo and Sam are great additions to our business.

Perhaps you’ve noticed the fact our blog was offline yesterday; the good news is, it’s up and running again! Technology wasn’t causing these hiccups; funny human interferences is the trouble; people touching files, changing files. People with unknown signatures! Hackers for short…. and other parties that shouldn’t get involved.

Stamford Photo Express is planning to move all of our precious content to a much safer place so don’t worry, we can handle this. For now, happy blogging again and feel free to release your comment here @ our site!

Here are the Saturday dates that Karen will be available for you to book a Portrait Sitting in the Studio

Saturday the 13th of December

We may add a further date in December depending on whether or not these dates become booked up

It is with great sadness that I start this entry into the SPE Blog.

Our photographer of the last three years here at Stamford Photo Express is to leave us :O(

Karen was a great addition to the business back in 2006 both as a photographer and also a valuable part time member of staff and she will be missed. However she will continue to keep her hand in here at the Studio by making herself available on one Saturday of each month. To make it easy for any potential portrait sittings to be booked with Karen I shall be listing the dates that she will be available here on the Blog.

From the standpoint of SPE operating on a day-to-day basis this development (no pun intended) will leave me running the business alone so please bear with me through this period as we look to seek a suitable replacement for Karen’s part time role. Do not be concerned as the quality of the service that I provide for you will not be compromised.

Please Note: I do have to stop, for the time being, the production of Passport Photos for babies and also young children. This is due to the fact that obviously I cannot be on the shop floor and spending potentially protracted periods of time in the studio. It is still possible to book a slot to have this service done on the Saturdays when Karen is available. Passport photos for adults are unaffected.

For other up to date on developments, keep reading the SPE Blog and I will introduce to you in due course our new portrait photographer and part-time member of staff here at the store.

Karen - On behalf of myself and I’m sure I can speak for everyone whom you have taken photos for in the Studio - We all wish you the very best in your new job and good luck for the future.

As the dark nights start to draw in I have some information for you all regarding our opening times. These will change from the 27th of October 2008.

Our opening times from this date will be as follows.

Monday 9.00am to 5.00pm
Tuesday 9.00am to 5.00pm
Wednesday 9.00am to 5.00pm
Thursday 9.00am to 5.00pm
Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm
Saturday 9.00am to 5.00pm

Our new times will be displayed on the front door and our side window looking onto Wellington Lane.
If these times cause any of our customers a problem at any time please feel free to let me know and I will make special provision cater for your business.

Hi readers I have been working recently on a charity project with Mr Duncan Cubitt. Duncan is well known amongst the aviation fraternity as a photographer and his work can be regularly be seen in Flypast Magazine which, is incidentally, produced locally here in Stamford.

As you can see from the images I have added, SPE has assisted with the printing and production of a limited addition run of 30×20cm (8×12) prints of this great image of the Vulcan bomber taken by Duncan at this years Farnborough International Airshow.
This project provides much needed funds for the Vulcan’s maintenance enabling it to continue displaying at UK airshows. This comes after many years of painstaking work to restore this iconic Cold War bomber to an airworthy condition. For his part Duncan will donate £5 from each print sale to the Vulcan to the Sky.Trust

Well, it has been a little hectic for the past three months and the SPE blog has remained silent!!

That has meant facing the wrath of my international webmaster and friend T.C, “This must not happen again Mr Andy - it is not good for the maintenance of your website on the internet search engines”.

So here I am again getting my priorities right :O)

For those of you out there still struggling with getting your head around the intricacies of image transferral between Camera and PC, you will be pleased to hear that our courses are up and running again. I am also happy to say that the earliest we can now take bookings for spaces on this course is the new year as a local advertising campaign has completely filled all of our Autumn dates.
